It is important for safety that team members stick together and it is your responsibility to ensure that you stay within eyesight of your team-mate at all times. Should he/she be in trouble, you should contact the necessary backup and leave him/her only with the express permission of the race director.

FAQ

FIRST AID KIT

Foil survival blanket, three first aid dressings, five adhesive first aid plasters and sun block.

TEMPERATURE

Expect mild to hot day time temperatures between 20 – 30 degrees Celsius and night time/early morning temperatures between 08 – 15 degrees Celsius. We recommend applying high factor sun block and carrying a minimum of 3 liters of fluids on the trail.

MALARIA

Zambia is located in the malaria zone, however the race will be held during the dry season when mosquitoes are less prevalent. It is however recommended to use mosquito repellent as a precaution.

BEES
If you are allergic to bee-stings please advise race organizers at registration.  You will be required to carry your antihistamine with you.
WATER IN STREAMS AND RIVERS

It is strongly recommended not to drink the water from any of the rivers or streams. Clean drinking water will be provided in the race village and at the water tables along the route. Water from hand water pumps (bore holes) is safe to drink and the way points of each those pumps found along the route will be provided in the form of GPX locations.

MEDICAL EVACUATION

Evacuation from remote areas of the route pose a big logistical challenge and there are very limited locations that can be reached by ambulance.  All riders, irrespective of position, are expected to stop and assist if someone has had a fall.  Time lost will be credited back to all riders that stopped (See Rules).  Safety for all is most important, and we therefore appeal to all riders to ride in a responsible manner, without causing danger to yourself, or any other competitor.
